You'll need 1/4 cup of coarse sugar. If you don't have it, you can use brown sugar or salt but usually the coarser the sugar, the better the result. You'll also need half a lemon, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, and if you can get your hands on any kind of essential oil such as olive oil, jobjoba oil, or vitamin E oil, go ahead and use it. The Beauty Department recommends using Josie Maran's "Balance" Argan Oil but any oil that you feel has great skin benefits will work as well.
Once you've gathered all your materials, mix them until the coconut oil chunks have disappeared. Scrub your hands with this for two minutes and rinse with luke-warm water (don't use soap!). If you have any leftovers, you can save it in the fridge covered in plastic wrap for a few days! Feel free to use it on your feet as well.
Side note - if you feel that your hands are overly dry, I've found a miracle cream that leaves your hands soft to the touch. Its called Vanicream, and I owe the advice to the sweet young lady who overheard my mom and I discussing the need for the right hand lotion to solve my chronic dry hands (thanks Boston). I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it totally makes a difference in my hands! You should totally check it out.
Cheers! The Aristochic
