Long Hair Don't Care.. or Do I?

With today signaling the first day of spring, it feels like change is in the air...

As most of you have probably noticed, short hair seems to be the "in look" for Spring 2013. A lot of celebrities have been sporting new 'dos lately and some of my friends as well.. leading me to believe that maybe its time I take the plunge and chop off these long locks, perhaps even donating them to Locks of Love.

What's great is that bob hair styles are no longer in danger of going out of style, so if you've been looking for a change, now is the time. When people think of bob's they automatically think short hair, but thanks to the fashion industry, there now exist "demi-bobs" or long bobs. Short hair doesn't always have to mean chin length, you can always experiment with shoulder length and work your way up, trimming it on your own a la ManRepeller.

If you feel that the short bob is too short for you, the demi-bob is a somewhat blunt cut just above the shoulders. In order to achieve such look here are some steps I've read about and recommend.

1) Longer bobs can look bland if they're too blunt. To fix this, add some stacked layers in the back to add some dimension.

2) Don't add too many layers, because then it's not really a bob. To add some edge, thin out the ends with scissors or a razor, your hair stylist will know what to do.

3) Ask for an A-line (a touch shorter in the back)

4) If you have straight or wavy hair, this cut is the one that works for you, because it becomes versatile in being able to be worn flat-ironed or wavy.

Check out some of my favorite looks below. They look too good to ignore!

Cheers! The Aristochic
