Christopher Kane Fall 2013

I don't think I could believe myself when I saw the pictures from Christopher Kane's collection for Fall 2013. It was mind-blowing, breath-taking, amazing. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how I felt about his collection, not to mention, how the fashion world felt about it. I had seen tons of pictures of it a few days ago on Instagram when it was first presented and it had more than its fair share of positive reviews.. and now with these pictures I can see why.

Placing the show on a WHOLE floor of an industrial office building, the minimalistic setting allowed viewers, especially the impressive front row, to really focus on the clothes. Clothes, may I add, which showed the fashion world that Christopher Kane has made it. I can't imagine who won't want to wear his clothes once it hits stores. (You could also pre-order on Moda Operandi, #justsaying)

Kane delivered a standout collection which has no doubt assured him a place in the luxury industry, now more than ever that he is being backed financially by PPR exec Henri Francois Pinault, as he has bought a stake in Kane's company. For those of you unaware of Mr. Pinault -- he's Selma Hayek's husband, father to little Valentina.

The show opened with a series of looks in a subtle camo print in either blue or grey, updating that cool luxe look we all look for when it comes to staying with the trends. I loved the edgy biker jackets and the loose roll-up sweaters embellished with florals (above). The touch of fur to certain pieces also added a luxe touch that seems to be popular on various runways this season.

There were also dresses that I considered to-die-for; club ready dresses with belt buckle details, dresses made of sheer lace appliqué, and some even made of velvet. The velvet ones had slits cut out, which were then re-stitched strategically. Kane also presented dresses created from thick embroidery on sheer fabric in the formation of spirals to create completely sheer dresses that although looking sexy, still looked tough. The finale looks featured beaded frocks, rounding out his jaw dropping collection.

Cheers! The Aristochic
