Had to repost this from The Beauty Department! I'm not a huge fan of these "artsy" manicures that everyone is keen on trying these days but this is so cute that I don't mind it. In the tutorial the nail polish used was OPI's "Big Apple Red" but my favorite red is "Vodka and Caviar," so if you can get your hands on that one, definitely try it! I'm also a fan of "Forever Young" from Essie. The gold polish is from Deborah Lippman, along with the gold glitter polish which you'll also need. As for the tape, its called washi tape and I'm sure you can find it at your local beauty supply.
To accomplish the above look, paint your nails with the red and let them dry for a few hours. You should probably let the base dry overnight just to make sure you don't ruin the red.
Cut a 2-3" piece of the washi tape and fold it in half, leaving the ends apart like you seen in photo 4. Place the open ends of the washi tape on your pointer finger on the opposite hand you cut with. Cut out half a heart that is a little less than half the width of the nail you're putting the heart on. Gently peel your washi tape open to see the full heart.
Once cut, place it on your nail and press the edges with a soft, dry, clean paintbrush. Paint the metallic coat first, as this will give you the perfect heart shape, which you can't get when using glitter nail polish. Next, add the glitter polish on top of that. Peel the tape off slowly while the metallic and glitter polishes are still went, you don't want it to dry to the washi tape. Once the glitter has dried add a top coat and voila!
Cheers! The Aristochic
