NYFW I

As much as I wish that I could have made my flight to NYC this weekend, snowstorm Nemo had other plans for me. Even though I wasn't going to any shows, just being in NYC this weekend with all the fashion energy would have been amazing to say the least. I've satisfied myself with photo recaps of the shows and to be quite honest, I've not been impressed with some of my favorite designers. Helmut Lang and Rag&Bone have totally disappointed me, with heavy and dull colors and lots of un-flattering (in my opinion) jackets and blazers that I could never see myself wearing. On a more positive note, there is a collection that I did fall in love with, one I would have never expected to see myself wearing.. Keep reading to find out.

And that collection is none other than Kate Spade New York. This season the brand returned to its roots as it celebrated its 20th anniversary, bringing in old school New York glam and its iconic checkered cabs as they were scattered throughout the showroom during their presentation.

The design team which is headed up by creative director Deborah Lloyd and brand stylist Brad Goreski (the one and only!) featured bold outwear (check out the amaz red wool coat above!), sassy hats, and sparkly shoes. I loved their charming wool sweaters, which they collaborated on with Craig Redman. I consider it to be strong collection, featuring all kinds of pieces - from things you can wear for a day in the city to a night out on the town, all with that classic preppy-chic look Kate Spade is known for. Some of my favorites include the lip-inspired sunglasses, the peplum top, the oversized pussy-bow neon-pink silk shirt, and the leopard printed skirt.

Which pieces are your favorites?
Cheers! The Aristochic
