Mr. Marc

I've always had a fascination with Marc Jacobs, before he got all sexy and buff and started wearing kilts. I knew he had an eye for fashion despite how he groomed himself in the past. I mean we weren't ALL born with a fashion sense, some people develop it as they go along and I guess Marc was just a late bloomer.

As one of the most powerful gay men in the fashion industry, Marc is the head designer for Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs (his diffusion line, my favorite), and the creative direction of French fashion power house Louis Vuitton since 1997. The things that he has accomplished are absolutely incredible, its really motivating to see someone who has worked so hard on so many projects simultaneously and has still managed to come out on top. It's a real American success story.

What's even more major is the fact that Jacobs is still taking on more projects despite his already heavy work load. His latest endeavor is his partnership with Diet Coke, a company that has tapped him to be its creative director for the year, a position that both Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier have both previously held.

In the new commercials for this collaboration, three young women see Jacobs' trademark black boots and kilt sticking out of a photo booth and they swoon over the pictures that begin to come out of the photo booth's printer. Of course the girls then pull back the curtain to discover a half naked Marc wiping sweat from his brow. The commercial and the campaign prove to be hits in my opinion.

In an interview with WWD, Jacobs commented, "I still think it's hysterical people want me to take my shirt off. You know I'm going to be 50 in two months, so I guess I should be glad. It feels like the decade of me taking my shirt off." Well.. I certainly don't mind if he does, especially when he looks the way he does. Check out some shots from the campaign below!

Cheers! The Aristochic
